Hi, I am 33 and returning to school to purse a Bachelors in Biology and then attend school for Physcians Assistant. I have an AA in Liberal Arts from 2003 and I have since then had a child and seperated from his mother....as you can imagine I have spent the last few years working hard to make ends meet and make sure my son was raised properly.
My question is how do I explain all of that in the essay for admissions? I have had a solid and at times amazing career in the restaurant industry...I have waited on more celebrity's than I can remember and I have at times had to deal with some of the most demanding and impatient people and I had to learn how to cater to them with out upsetting them.
Can any of this be used in an admissions essay?

Re: Admission Essay
I've never had to submit an admission's essay because I started at a community college then transfered to a four-year state college with honors, so they looked at only my grades.
However, I always hear that you should follow the rules or parameters of what the admissions office ask of you. If the college asks you about hardships that you faced, but worked through them, I don't see why you wouldn't include all or some of the information that you mentioned.
