Post New Student
Hello all my name is Mailan. I am a 39 year old mother of 3 and housewife from Houston, TX. I just started my 3rd week of college online. The whole college thing is new to me, I got my GED in 1988 and never thought about going to college, untile about 6 months ago, my husband is a chef and he dosen't make a whole lot of money,so it occured to me I have been storing knowledge over the last 20 years mabey it is time for me to put it to use. Out of my entire family I am the 2nd one to attend college. I have to say that the past 3 weeks have been hard, because as a mother I don't have a lot of time to study . I am hopeing to get my degree in graphic design and multi-media so that me and my family can have a better life. I am also hoping that after I complete my training mabey my husband can go to culinary school and get his degree too and my oldest daughter is hopeing to go to college too and join the marines, so by me setting the example I have set into motion hopefully a whole new way of life for me and my family. :D

Hello and welcome. :)

Going back to school can be rewarding, but it can also be tough because of other commitments. Ultimately, though, it's worth it to stay in school. Nontraditional students can sometimes need a support system because not many people understand what it's like for us.

I haven't taken an online class (yet), but I'm seriously thinking about getting my Master's degree online. One of our members is an online professor and is very helpful.

I've been on summer vacation, but I start the fall semester next week. I'm 35 years old and a junior, undergrad.
